ENERMAPS CHALLENGE

Objective 1
Centralise energy datasets on one user-friendly gateway – the EnerMaps open data management tool – to connect the energy research community with energy professionals.
Objective 2
Improve the accessibility of scientific datasets such as the thermal and electric energy datasets, in order to maximise incentives for researchers to share their data with decision makers.
Objective 3
Ensure the quality of the datasets centralised on the gateway.
Objective 4
Increase the energy data knowledge of target groups – energy planners, policy makers, public administrations, data providers, and the energy research community – through training activities (using action-learning techniques) to accelerate and facilitate the energy transition.

EU project, from April 2020 to April 2022
EnerMaps project will reach these objectives through five steps:
a) Identifying crucial energy datasets through collaborative research (supported by the Consortium’s internal and external experts and target group representatives),
b) Comparing and quality checking the datasets,
c) Enriching, visualising, and bringing new analytical tools to these datasets,
d) Compiling different datasets in one place – the EnerMaps Data Management Tool,
e) Leading a capacity building program on data management directly targeting lead users and indirectly targeting end users.
